Do I Need Long Term Care Insurance?

Please visit my Videos page for more videos.

Accidents happen – age happens – changes happen.
We never know when we’re going to need help with our everyday activities.
For most of us, short-term assistance is something we can afford – or at least manage.
But when it’s for a longer term, well….
We start to make trade-offs:

  • What doctors we see
  • What medications we take
  • Where we get care
  • How we get care
  • & for how long.

VERY early on, we start making decisions based on cost.
That’s not inappropriate.
But when the QUALITY of that care is compromised, well…

  • A woman I know needed a hip replacement.
  • Year after year, she put it off because she didn’t want to ask any of her children to take time off from work to care for her; and the cost of hiring someone was frightening to her.
  • She put off the surgery for so long, that by the time she needed it just to get around her house, so much damage had been done that she never was able to recover and live independently.
  • Her decision was a financial one, and the quality of her care suffered terribly.

This is exactly why LTC insurance was invented.
I do not sell insurance, but I certainly believe in having it.
Is LTC insurance right for everyone?
Of course not.
Are there alternatives?
Of course.
But every client is different, and there is no one answer that is right for everyone.

Nearly everyone who is healthy says “But what if I don’t ever need to use it?”
And nearly everyone who needs to use it says “I’m so glad I have it” or “I should have gotten it.”

Yes, the policies and coverage can be confusing.
Let’s talk.

Because my job is to help you sort through the many issues that affect your financial well-being….
